Most Stolen Cars Of 2009

With around 800,000 vehicles stolen in 2009, auto theft remains a pressing problem in the United States. That said, the last few years have seen annual declines in total thefts. For example, in 2008, around 1 million cars were stolen.
The two most popular models with thieves are still the 1994 Honda Accord and the 1995 Honda Civic. The Toyota Camry remains in third place, although it's now the 1991 model robbers are looking for, rather than the 1989 version. New to the list for 2009 are the 1994 Chevrolet Pickup and the 2009 Toyota Corolla, knocking off the 1996 Jeep Cheroke and the 1999 Ford Taurus.
Why are older cars targets for thieves? A couple of reasons: older cars are less likely to be equipped with an anti-theft device and can be stripped down for valuable parts.
